Position Title:

Contemporary Worship and Discipleship Leader (Part-Time, approximately 5-9 hours/wk)

Church Description:

Stillwater Church is located in the heart of Saraland and is actively engaged in reaching its community through a variety of major outreach projects, including an extensive food pantry, preschool, and thrift store that supports missions. Average attendance of 200 people, with two styles of Sunday worship. Traditional worship at 8:30am features a choir and classic hymns of the faith. Contemporary worship at 10:30 features a praise band. Stillwater is affiliated with the Global Methodist Church.

Purpose:

This ministry role uses contemporary (modern praise) worship as a means of God's grace to help people encounter the authentic presence of God and grow as disciples of Jesus. This position disciples leaders to develop and use gifts for ministry through Contemporary Worship services, Nights of Worship, Student Gatherings, and special events.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Lead Sunday Morning Contemporary Worship: Lead the contemporary band for rehearsals and in Sunday morning worship. This role ultimately leads the corporate body in encountering the presence of God and includes leading in prayer, speaking, scripture reading, and other aspects of worship. Additional worship opportunities, including special events, nights of worship, holidays, or during other creative expressions.

2. Lead Student Ministries Worship (Optional Add-on to the position): This person serves with the Student Ministries leadership team to disciple students and develop students in leading worship at youth gatherings and events. This person is encouraged to participate in studies, special events, and mission trips when possible.

3. Ministry Coordination and Preparation: This position works closely with the pastors and wider worship support teams (audio, video, etc.) in planning for thematic presentations of the gospel. Participation in staff meetings, Creative Worship and Design teams is strongly recommended.

4. Team Building: This position excels in relational ministry and team-building to recruit, mentor, develop healthy teams, and grow individuals in faith, and lead effective rehearsals. This position is considered program staff and would be encouraged to attend staff meetings to coordinate ministries to fit within the wider misison of the church.

5. Other Duties: All leadership roles see the bigger picture and serve wherever called upon by the pastors.

Key Performance Measurements

1. Spirit-filled worship and leadership, with positive feedback from pastors, worship team members, student ministry team members, students, and the wider church.

2. Professional preparation and clear communication regarding rehearsal plans, worship arrangements, and leadership expectations.

3. Regular recruitment and investment in new volunteers, ongoing training and development of current volunteers, and fostering healthy team dynamics.

4. Active participation in the wider missions and ministries of the church (because Stillwater is so engaged in service and mission, we like to see all of our leaders demonstrating a servant heart and outreach-focused perspective) and a demonstrated effort to work together with all staff and volunteers.

5. Shows a desire to grow personally and professionally by attending continuing education, researching creative ideas, and building relationships with peers outside of the church.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $8,000.00 - $11,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 5 - 9 per week
