Job Summary
The Consumer Lending Assistant Manager reports to the Consumer Loan Manager and will assist in the management and development of employees for our lending department, and each year to progressively increase the number of loans we fund, while maintaining a high-level of credit quality. This role will ensure that systems and procedures are in place to provide superior member services. Participates in the development and implementation of a strategic lending plan and the corresponding goals. To be an advocate for the Credit Union's brand.
Essential Job Function
Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions regarding loan policies, procedures, and member interactions.
Mentor and coach employees to build lending knowledge, decision-making skills, and member service excellence.
Assist with employee performance reviews, goal setting, and training plans.
Help coordinate team schedules, including remote work assignments and time-off approvals when delegated.
Oversee the flow of loan applications, ensuring equitable distribution and timely completion.
Review and approve consumer loan applications within assigned authority limits; escalate complex loans to the Consumer Loan Manager.
Recommend updates to procedures to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance
Serve as an escalation point for member complaints or complex situations, providing resolution with professionalism and care.
Assist with the rollout of new loan products, programs, or technologies (including underwriting systems or automation tools).
Train new and existing employees on the consumer loan process including taking applications, submitting for underwriting, preparing documents, funding loans and packaging for post close audits.
Make recommendations to the Consumer Lending Manager when lending processes need to be updated/changed and when Senior Member Advisors need additional training and coaching.

Knowledge and Abilities
High sales aptitude.
Knowledge of and ability to communicate lending products.
The ability to maintain and foster positive relationships with our members, sponsoring companies, and other employees and departments at the credit union.
Ability to conduct needs assessments, identify problems, develop solutions and take appropriate course of action.
PC skills (Microsoft Office Products) and Symitar core processing systems.
Ability to manage a wide range of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment.

Education and Experience and Certifications
6+ year of experience with all aspects of consumer lending.
Physical Requirements
Repeated motions may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Ability to use a keypad and keyboard and mouse for extended periods of time.
Vision and hearing to normal range (or corrected).
Adjusting, lifting, carrying, or pushing/pulling objects up to 25 poundsin all directions.
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one work site to another.
Other Requirements
May occasionally work additional hours, and in other departments as necessary to accomplish organization objectives, goals, and projects.
May be required to travel within Portland Metro.
