The role of a Consultant at CTEH is multi-disciplinary in nature and relies on a strong basis in several scientific disciplines (i.e., biology, chemistry, etc.). The successful applicant will work directly with Industrial Hygienists, Toxicologists, Epidemiologists, and other applied science practitioners to address issues relating to one or more of the following topics: public health, occupational health, environmental risk assessment, and/or general exposure science. A Consultant I may have the opportunity to lead and participate in public health-related field projects and/or in-office technical support work. The role may lead teams of Health Scientists to task or project completion in addition to full-cycle project management. Attention to detail, above-average writing abilities, ability to multi-task and successful project management skills are critical to job performance in this role.Consultant I will also work closely with representatives from the Building Sciences team to perform building assessments for asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, fire-impacted and water-impacted materials.

ACTIVITIES/TASKS/SCOPEAbility to understand the basic industrial hygiene concepts of and explain (with minimal guidance from aProject IH or Senior IH) the advanced concepts of anticipating, recognizing, evaluating and controlling hazardsto workers, the general public and the environment
Perform (with minimal guidance) industrial hygiene activities, including, but not limited to, qualitative andquantitative IH/safety surveys, air sampling/monitoring, noise surveys, review/preparation of MSDS, indoorair quality surveys, and preparation/review of project- or site-specific health and safety plans
Perform (with minimal guidance) environmental assessments, to include surface soil and surface wipesampling
Provide data management and evaluation support to CTEH project managers in the areas of IH, toxicology,litigation support, risk assessment and emergency response with minimal direction
Understand and explain the basic and with minimal guidance, the advanced concepts of anticipating,recognizing, evaluating, and controlling hazards to workers, the general public, and the environment
Demonstrable ability to solve problems and make accurate and informed decisions regarding IH and safetywith minimal guidance
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a matrix reporting structure
Ability to locate, understand and explain (with minimal guidance) the basic concepts of relevant OSHAregulations, other occupational health and safety standards and guidelines, including those of the ACGIH

Ability to calibrate and operate standard IH and IAQ equipment
Ability with minimal guidance to explain the concepts of each piece of IH equipment
Ability to select appropriate industrial hygiene testing equipment to meet project needs
Maintain active involvement in industry and/or professional organizations, keeping current on new ideas and techniques within the field of industrial hygiene
Demonstrable ability (with minimal guidance) to solve problems and make accurate and informed decisions

Two to five years as an Industrial Hygienist I, availability of position, or equivalent from a previous employer
Advanced computer and data management experience in a Windows based platform
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIESHAZWOPER certification - Required (Can be obtained post hire)
DISA clearance - Required (Can be obtained post hire)
TWIC clearance - Required (Can be obtained post hire)
Current driver's license - Required
