Construction Superintendent Job Summary
Construction Superintendent will coordinate and manage all on-site construction-related activities. Will work with project team members including Project Managers, Project Engineers, Contract trades, Foreman, and Field Personnel to ensure the project is executed in a safe manner while meeting established deliverables according to timelines and budgets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure all required materials, equipment, and inspections occur to support the project schedule.
Responsible for jobsite site safety. Ensure the jobsite is safe for workers and visitors as well as manage compliance with established company safety policies and procedures. Issue daily JSA's.
Manage the overall safety of the project and ensure all personnel have the required resources to perform their work safely.
Ensure safety compliance with OSHA requirements.
Work with the project teams to budget, forecast, and manage field personnel as well as management of labor, equipment, materials, tools, and other cost considerations.
Prepare work plans and develop temporary facilities, i.e., laydown areas for the project.
Understand, review, and manage project plans, specifications, and manufacturer's data and execute project based upon established documentation.
Review construction documents for completeness and constructability.
Manage the overall project and 3 week look ahead schedules. Update on a weekly basis.
Generate RFI's (Requests for Information) as required to ensure completeness of project documents. Identify and clarify any discrepancies.
Review submittals for compliance with project plans, manufacturer's recommendations and code, or other standards applicable to the project.
Work with the project team to manage the company's quality program for the project.
Conduct preconstruction planning.
Conduct on-site project meetings with subcontractors and construction trades lead personnel.
Manage subcontractors for all work performed on-site.
Mentor and train field personnel.
Manage contractor foremen and their duties and ensure all have resources and information to perform their tasks effectively and efficiently.
Work with the project team to maintain relationships with owners, visitors, and suppliers.
Manage site work and logistics of construction site.
Provide feedback on job related processes and procedures.
Maintain a daily log for the job site's operations, reporting to management as necessary
Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
5+ years of proven leadership or supervisory role.
10+ years of construction experience.
Basic computer skills with experience in MS Office and MS Project preferred.
