POSITION SUMMARY: The Construction Safety Manager is responsible for creating, implementing, managing, and monitoring Alpha Inc's Safety Program including the development of site safety policies and procedures. This position supports construction crews by visiting project sites and assessing working conditions, identifying safety related issues and risks on project sites. In addition, the Construction Safety Manager will conduct safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with government regulations, as well as ensuring that Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) laws are strictly followed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with management to create, implement and oversee the Project Safety Program including development of site safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
  • Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance traning programs.
  • Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as a primary contact for project site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.
  • Confirm and maintain required OSHA recordkeeping, reporting and safety training certifications.
  • Evaluate projects and project sites before work commences, identifying safety-related risks.
  • Monitor project activities with the review of the construction management team and design procedures, programs and policies affecting construction safety on projects.
  • Assist in the development and acceptance of Job Hazard Analysis and Project Specific Safety Plans.
  • Liaise with external parties such as government-employed inspectors to evaluate the process of construction sites.
  • Work with project management teams and field workers to implement and device solutions to safety-related issues on project sites.
  • Mentor those who work in the highest hazard roles on how to protect and enhance safety and health in the workplace.
  • Use a variety of tools, equipment, and methods to execute high quality training, gather trainee feedback, and report on training goals and initiative progress.
  • Conduct employee safety training on applicable safety standards including new hire orientations and safety meetings.
  • Review safety training and recommend revisions, improvements, and updates.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in construction safety, identifying threats and developing appropriate protection measures required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations relating to the construction industry required.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Confined and Restricted Space Certification preferred.
  • Hot Work Permitting preferred.
  • Lock Out, Tag Out preferred.
  • Working At Heights Certificate preferred.
  • DOT Compliance preferred.
  • SPCC Compliance preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites - Word, Excel, Powerpoint and MAC Suites required.
  • Proficiency in HCSS, or Adobe Acrobat preferred.

LICENSE:
  • Must have a valid, unexpired driver’s license.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
