Job Title: Construction Project Manager - School Modernizations
Location: El Cajon, CA (Onsite)

Salary Range: $130,000 to 150,000/Year
Role Summary
The General Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering school modernization projects from initial design through final closeout. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a solid understanding of educational facility standards. The Project Manager will ensure all work is completed on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets to guide overall execution.
Coordinate activities during design and construction phases to ensure alignment with school facility requirements.
Lead pre-construction meetings, site visits, and ongoing progress reviews.
Manage procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
Technical Oversight
Review architectural and engineering designs for constructability, accuracy, and compliance.
Ensure adherence to local and state building codes, DSA standards, ADA requirements, and LEED guidelines.
Monitor jobsite quality control, safety practices, and overall workmanship throughout the project.
Stakeholder Coordination
Act as the primary point of contact for school administrators, district personnel, architects, engineers, and contractors.
Promote effective communication and collaboration across all project partners.
Provide routine progress updates, reports, and documentation to internal leadership and external stakeholders.
Contract & Budget Management
Prepare bid packages and support contractor selection processes.
Negotiate contracts, review proposals, and manage change orders.
Track project expenditures, enforce cost-control measures, and ensure compliance with
prevailing wage requirements
.
School-Specific Responsibilities
Schedule and sequence construction activities to minimize disruptions to school operations.
Coordinate site access, student and staff safety plans, and logistics for work in occupied facilities.
Address unique challenges associated with active school environments.
Typical Tasks
Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments.
Prepare, submit, and track permit applications.
Monitor daily construction activities and resolve field-level issues.
Maintain accurate project records, including RFIs, submittals, cost changes, logs, and punch lists.
Lead final inspections and manage the project closeout process.
