Fann Contracting, Inc - Northern Arizona s leading heavy-civil and heavy-highway contractor - is searching for Heavy Construction Laborers to join our team! Our family-owned OVER 60-year company specializes in mass excavation, rock handling, underground utilities, private and public infrastructure, asphalt paving, aggregate crushing, asphalt hot plant production, and much more. Our projects include public and private entities including ADOT, FHWA, BIA, city and county municipalities, private residential and commercial developments throughout Arizona. Statewide positions. Hourly wage will depend upon experience but training is also available. Labor positions may include the following:
  • Pipe/Utilities Laborer
  • Asphalt Laborer
  • Hot Plant Laborer
  • Flagger and Traffic Control Laborer
  • Crusher Laborer, Equipment/Shop Laborer
What s in it for you?
  • Pay depends upon experience but will typically range between $16.25 to $24.50 per hour. On the job training is also an option!

Preferred qualifications:
  • Must be a SAFETY MINDED WORKER at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment, post-accident and random drug screening.
  • Should be a hardworking, self-starter with great work ethic.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Safety Training Class is a condition of employment. If candidates do not have this training, we will provide it free of charge. If hired, this training must be accomplished within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Prefer experience with Department of Transportation (DOT) projects.
  • Heavy Highway and erosion control experience is a plus (SWPPP).
  • Must be willing to travel to projects throughout Arizona for work using your own reliable transportation (Daily subsistence/travel pay may be available).
  • Driver s license and good driving record is preferred as statewide travel is
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
  • Ability to participate in group meetings, take direction from supervisor(s) and other crew members, high degree of attention to details, follow work rules, and adhere to project schedule.

  • Must be available to work various hours including days, nights and possibly even some weekends.
  • Potential candidates should be eager to learn and advance as FREE training is available.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
What the work entails:
  • Shoveling/use of pick or digging bar, operating Wacker (jumping jack), sled compactor or other gas/fuel operated compaction equipment.
  • Operating walk behind rollers, chain saws, pavement breakers, jackhammer, guinea chaser, concrete saws, and/or other small equipment.
  • Laborers are also responsible for checking oil/fuel prior to using small equipment.
  • Construction site clean-up, walking long distances, being on your feet for hours at a time, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing ladders.
  • Walking on rocky or uneven ground surfaces such as slopes, mud, ice and snow.
  • Must be agile and able to work in or outdoors, in dusty conditions and in all types of weather.
  • Operate pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and small equipment.
  • Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Control/flagging traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes.
  • Lifting, loading or unload building materials, machinery, and tools.
  • Be a team player.
  • Learn and follow safety regulations.
  • Provide assistance to Equipment Operators, Grade Checkers and Foremen.
  • Work outside for extended periods during all seasons of the year.
  • Perform additional duties as required by their immediate supervisor or foreman.
Environmental factors: Frequent exposure to outside hot/cold/humid temperatures, chemical/electrical/sharp objects/tools, high places/high heights, dirty (soiled) environments, dry, fumes, gases, odors, dust, wind, grease, oil, mud, moving mechanical parts, noise, vibration, wet/slippery floors/surfaces, working w/others & working alone.
