is responsible for ensuring that construction activities comply with approved plans, specifications, and safety regulations. This role monitors contractor performance, verifies material and workmanship quality, and supports the Authority Representative with technical documentation and site coordination. The Construction Inspector plays a critical role in maintaining construction integrity and ensuring compliance across Agile Dream Team's infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of
plans, specifications, contractor schedules, safety standards, and codes
to accurately evaluate contractor performance.
Conduct
field inspections
across construction job sites and transit facilities to ensure adherence to approved drawings and quality standards.
Identify and report
probable changed site conditions
, deviations, or non-conformances promptly.
Serve as
WMATA escort
for field inspection teams at job sites and operating facilities (Bus/Rail).
Prepare
inspection reports, draft letters, and technical documentation
for review by the Authority Representative.
Use
digital inspection tools
(e.g., camera, laptop, radio, mobile devices) for documentation, communication, and field coordination.
Verify that construction work complies with applicable
building codes, trade industry standards, and safety regulations
.
Coordinate with contractors, project managers, and engineers to address and resolve field issues effectively.
Maintain accurate logs, records, and digital archives of inspections and project correspondence.
Requirements
Graduation from a
trade school
with at least
8 years
of relevant experience;
OR
High School Diploma (or equivalent) with
12 years
of field experience in a related discipline;
OR
College Degree in a related
technical or engineering field
with
4 years
of relevant field experience.
Experience:
Proven background in
construction and/or technical inspection
in civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical disciplines.
Licenses:
Certification or license in construction inspection or engineering practice
required per Washington D.C. jurisdiction.
Knowledge of construction codes, standards, and inspection procedures.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and project specifications.
Proficiency with digital inspection and documentation tools.
Residency:
Must reside in or be willing to relocate to
Washington D.C.
(on-site role).
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently in field environments and maintain professionalism with contractors and teams.
