Bayvex is a concrete coatings manufacturer out of Lakeville, Minnesota. Founded to manufacture Penntek's award winning chemical products for the coating of concrete in residential and commercial applications such as epoxies, urethanes, polyurea and polyaspartic products .
We currently have an opening for a R&D Formulation Chemist at our headquarters in Lakeville, Minnesota.
This position is responsible for the development of new products conforming to market needs; cost reduction, raw material rationalization and performance improvement of existing products; providing technical support when sourcing from outside vendors; assisting Manufacturing and QA in the production of products; and technical support to Technical Department. In performing the responsibilities the incumbent must operate to ensure the safety of the company's employees and customers and preservation of the environment.
Duties involve but not limited to:
Develop new coatings technologies, formulate and/or modify existing products
Recommend new, offset and alternate raw materials
Conduct product maintenance projects on existing products and help resolve product issues associated with manufacturing, non-conforming materials, customer complaints, and distressed or obsolete inventory, as necessary.
Provide progress updates of assigned projects through regular written and verbal technical reports to R&D Manager as needed
Develop new test methods as necessary to accelerate the development and commercialization of new products.
Work with cross functional teams to ensure success on product development and other corporate projects.
Document and maintain records of experiments, results and conclusions in lab notebook and other appropriate data systems.
Work independently on assigned projects in a deadline-oriented environment and collaborate with co-workers to provide and take direction on relevant projects.
Provide techical input and support for the creation of technical data sheets.
Submits new and requests changes in Standard Test Methods and Standard Operating Procedures
Implementation of cost savings and justification (e.g. formulation, raw materials and processes)
Upholding our company's standard and goals.
Assist the Technical Department in managing product performance and compliance inquiries.
Minimum Skill/Education Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Biochemistry, or other polymer science related degrees.
Ability to work semi-independently with direction from R&D manager
Self-manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet timelines, deliverables, and objectives
Creative problem-solving ability; critical thinking and data analysis skills
Open-minded and willingness to learn new concepts and ideas.
Experience with working in a laboratory setting within a light industrial environment
Ability to non-routinely lift up to 50 pounds if needed
Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word.
