Computer Support Specialist
Location: Albany, NY ? NYS Department of Health (DOH)
Employment Type: Full?Time Contract
Work Authorization: No work sponsorship offered; proof of eligibility to work in New York State required
Summary
The Computer Support Specialist will manage program materials (including financial documents), maintain databases, and provide administrative and technical support to program teams. The ideal candidate is highly organized, an effective communicator, and proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word. Duties are performed on?site with close collaboration across internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

  • Program Information Lifecycle: Develop, prepare, review, process, and track incoming program information (including budget and outcome data) to support oversight and reporting.
  • Compliance & Stakeholder Support: Review and approve program?level submissions from stakeholders for compliance; provide technical assistance to stakeholders as needed.
  • Training & Enablement: Train and support internal staff and external stakeholders on program processes, data standards, and system use.
  • Data Operations: Perform data entry into various databases; analyze data for reporting and management dashboards.
  • Analytics & Summaries: Extract, analyze, and summarize program information from databases to inform decisions and status updates.
  • Database Stewardship: Maintain and improve internal databases used for tracking program information; recommend process and data-quality improvements.
  • Program Communications: Manage program inboxes; follow program guidelines when communicating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistency and timely response.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least one (1) year of office experience supporting data/document workflows.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Well organized, detail?oriented, and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non?IT audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team.
  • Technical: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Other: Proof of eligibility to work in New York State (no sponsorship).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor?s degree.
  • Experience in a fast?paced setting with the ability to multi?task and work within complex databases.
Work Conditions
  • On?site in Albany, NY; standard Monday?Friday schedule aligned to DOH program operations.
  • Must comply with NYS DOH policies, confidentiality, and data security requirements.
