As a Community Support Specialist, you will provide community-based mental health services to children, adolescents, and/or adults. Your work will involve creating individualized treatment plans, offering behavioral and emotional support, and connecting clients with essential community resources. You'll collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to promote stability, recovery, and long-term wellness for your clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop meaningful relationships with clients and support them in achieving personalized treatment goals Provide strengths-based, community-based mental health services to individuals using evidence-based practices including CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing Facilitate group sessions and behavioral interventions aligned with each client's treatment plan Coordinate services with families, schools, physicians, psychiatrists, and community organizations to ensure comprehensive care Monitor client progress and adapt interventions as necessary to support recovery Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with agency standards Participate in professional development, training, and quality improvement activities Build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and community partners Support clients in accessing local resources to improve independence and overall well-being

Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields of study: Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Education, Criminal Justice, Family Studies, Counseling, Recreational Therapy, Human Services, Human Development, Child Development, Gerontology, Behavioral Science, Rehabilitation Counseling

Associate of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support degree from an approved institution

OR....

Work experience in a related human services field may substitute for educational requirements. *Related fields may include direct support such as case management, residential support, developmentally disabled support, vocational rehabilitation, and more. Four years of qualifying experience minimum or a combination of education and experience equaling four years required.

Qualified Addictions Professional (QAP) - CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, CCJP, RADC-P, RADC, CCDP, CCDP-D

Additional Qualifications:

Must be at least 21 years of age to operate a company-owned vehicle Must be at least 23 years of age to operate a company-owned fifteen (15) passenger van Requires current driver's license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance Must have reliable means of transportation in order to transport clients in personal vehicle Strong written and verbal communication skills Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain professional documentation Ability to build effective, supportive relationships with clients, families, and community partners Must attain any required training necessary to meet DMH standards Skilled in case management and community support interventions

Physical Requirements:

ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shift.


Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met
