Comfort Keepers is seeking a compassionate and motivated Community Support Specialist (CSS) to support a Wounded Warrior receiving Community Support Specialty Services in the Brazil, Indiana area.

This position is not classified as a caregiver role and does not include ADLs, medical tasks, or medication assistance.

About the Role

As a Community Support Specialist, you will work directly with the Warrior to support the goals they have identified to strengthen their independence and overall well-being. Sessions focus on addressing Social Determinants of Health (SDOH), enhancing community engagement, and improving quality of life.

What You'll Do

Support the Warrior in developing and maintaining functional skills that promote independence. Help pursue tasks and activities that give purpose and structure to their daily life. Assist with organization, scheduling, and task reminders to support success in meeting goals. Join the Warrior in community and recreational activities such as bowling, yoga, gym visits, walking, volunteering, or other social outings. Provide tools, encouragement, and structured guidance to help the Warrior overcome barriers and remain empowered. Work with the Warrior--not forthem--to strengthen autonomy and confidence.

Session Activity Examples

Accompanying and supporting the Warrior during volunteer opportunities. Participating together in recreational or wellness-focused outings. Reviewing calendars, setting reminders, and helping build stable routines. Engaging in physical activities to improve strength, endurance, and overall health.

Qualifications

Reliable transportation and valid vehicle insurance Ability to pass a criminal background check CPR certification Proof of a negative TB test Access to a smartphone or computer for ongoing training and communication Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills A supportive, respectful, and encouraging approach to working with others
