This position requires a willingness and ability to keep a flexible schedule to coordinate evening events.

PURPOSE
The Community School Liaison (CSL) will coordinate, develop, manage, facilitate and implement community school activities, events, programs and services that lead to student achievement, stronger families and healthier neighborhoods.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Community Schools Liaison will work in coordination with the School Administrator, the Community Schools Social Worker and the school leadership team. The CSL will establish and implement a site action plan to alleviate social and economic barriers to student learning. The CSL will become a key communicator of resources and support. The CSL will develop neighborhood partners to increase access to basic needs (e.g. housing, food, clothing, transportation, health and dental care, employment, etc.) and opportunities for student enrichment and parent engagement activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Coordinate site operations, including: planning, organizing and delivering resources for basic needs and opportunities for student enrichment and parent engagement;
  • Develop a site action plan that will help alleviate social and economic barriers to student learning, in cooperation with the leadership team;
  • Be a key communicator, sharing the vision for Community Schools;
  • Develop neighborhood partners to increase access to basic needs (e.g. housing, food, clothing, transportation, health and dental care, employment, etc.) and opportunities (e.g. student enrichment, in-school and out-of-school, and parent engagement activities);
  • Encourage enrichment and engagement activities that promote equity;
  • Connect with families and share community resources;
  • Forge and maintain partnerships between the school district, building, community and local businesses to enhance community and volunteer involvement in school activities;
  • Identify and recruit people and organizations willing to offer programs and services for students and families at the school or to assist with operations;
  • Negotiate agreements, in collaboration with the principal, with people and organizations that will provide services;
  • Develop and maintain, and publicize a schedule of programs and activities offered at the school;
  • Coordinate and monitor programs and activities;
  • Evaluate and make recommendations of programs to administration;
  • Perform administrative tasks for the day to day management and coordination of activities;
  • Assure the functioning of all community school core components are effectively linked to school curriculum and fulfill the basic principles of community schools;
  • Develop, maintain and nurture relationships with school administration and staff, parents, family members, and neighborhood residents;
  • Conduct home-visits as requested by the principal;
  • Responsible for required data collection and evaluation;
  • Prepare and present written and oral reports to principal, West Ada Directors and community partners as requested;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Federal Programs and Academic Support.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree from an accredited college or university in education, human development, health or social services or related field preferred. Education may be substituted for relevant work experience;
  • Experience working with economically, culturally and linguistically diverse populations;
  • Experience working in an education or social service setting;
  • Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish) as well as cultural sensitivity and ability to work with a diverse group of people;
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing;
  • The ability to work reliably both independently and/or as a part of a team;
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal resources to support low-income and under-represented populations;
  • Basic skills in marketing, budgeting, data collection and program evaluation;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products;
  • Must have a valid Idaho Driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and a vehicle to drive and/or must provide own transportation for job related activities.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal conversation and to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person;
  • Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work and assessments, prepare and review documents, and organize documents and materials;
  • Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and to operate a computer and office equipment, and to occasionally physically restrain a student to keep him/her from harming self or others;
  • Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and balance, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to work in an office environment, lifting or moving objects that weigh up to 20 lbs.;
  • Job tasks require, with or without reasonable accommodation, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping.
EVALUATION
Performance of this position will be evaluated by the Director of Federal Programs and Academic Support in accordance with the Board\xe2\x80\x99s policy on evaluations.
