EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Master's Degree, required.
o Social work, counseling, pupil personnel, psychology/sociology, administration and supervision, or a related human services field, preferred.
Minimum of three years of experience working in an educational setting, social work, or related human services field, preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstration of skill and experience in data analysis and strategic planning, preferred.
Demonstration of strong leadership, management, organization, communication, and human relations skills.
Demonstration of strong knowledge and skill in computer/educational technology.
Demonstration of strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidential information and maintain documentation of parental engagement activities at the assigned school.
Bilingual communication, preferred.
Ability to work independently with minimum oversight and demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, and quality awareness. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective time and project management skills. Available to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends as needed.
Experience in working with parents and community agencies in providing services for students, preferred. Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate events that foster family and community participation.
Must be comfortable with the use of data and presenting data to small and large groups.
Understands and respects the diversity of families' economic, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds and situations while demonstrating a high degree of cultural awareness and competency in cross-cultural practice with stakeholders.
Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Community School Coordinators work hand-in-hand with school leadership to guide the work of the community school while managing and coordinating the strategic partnerships that provide wraparound services to students, families, and the community.
Implementation of essential wraparound services, including academic, family engagement, physical, social, behavioral, and emotional well-being for students, families, and the community.
Enhances physical wellness of students and families, including providing healthy food for in-school and out-of-school time and linkages to community providers.
Promotes behavioral health services, including access to mental health practitioners, and provides professional development to school staff to provide trauma-informed interventions.
Identifies resources in the community that address the needs of families within the school community, and communicates directly with families about those resources, as needed.
Develops Needs Assessment and Implementation Plan that reflects the priorities of multiple stakeholder groups/partners to promote equity, prioritizing the needs and physical, emotional, behavioral, and emotional wellbeing of students and families by providing identified wraparound services.
Facilitates asset and needs assessments on an ongoing basis that includes feedback and surveys from a broad cross-section of stakeholders (students, staff, families, service providers, partners, neighborhoods) to reduce barriers to student achievement; promote increased academic outcomes; and foster family stability. Promote positive outcomes for students, families, and the school community.
Conducts the evaluation of the community school through timely submission of reports and data collection with support from the Community School Liaison, Director of Student Services, and School Principal.
Facilitates and staffs the site-based Community School Steering Committee, a coordinating body including the school principal and representatives from key stakeholder groups. Serves as contact person for the school with community partners, ensuring communication between on-site partners and recruiting and communicating with partners outside of the school. Leverage partnerships to address identified issue(s) that impact the school community in the areas of physical & mental health, family support, community engagement, academics/education, and youth development.
Collaborates with the school principal to establish ongoing relationships with community organizations, community members, and businesses to increase their involvement and maximize community contributions for school effectiveness; develops relationships with community organizations that provide needed family services.
Develops events and activities based on topics relevant to the school and student learning. Develops and participates in professional development related to the Community School program. Attend community meetings/events as appropriate. Providing family and community engagement and supports, including informing parents of academic course offerings, language classes, workforce development training, opportunities for children, and available social services, as well as educating families on how to monitor a child's learning.
Enhancing student enrichment experiences, which may include implementing Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO).
Improving student attendance and the learning environment. Attends school-based meetings as needed that may include Instructional Leadership Team, PBIS meetings, Student Support Team (SST), Section 504, special education (IEP) meetings, etc., as needed. Provides school personnel staff development regarding wraparound services, student resources, data from surveys, and needs assessment.
Establishing and enhancing linkages to Judy Centers and other early education programs that feed into the school.
Fulfill all contractual requirements to include professional development, reporting, meetings, database management, and other deliverables as outlined in the scope of work and action plan.
Develop marketing materials and create a social media presence on behalf of the school.
Assures fiscal accountability by applying effective practices in planning, budgeting, controlling, and assessing the use of budget and grant funds. Supports any grants or contracting processes for services required to fulfill the community school implementation plan.
Reports to the Community School District Liaison.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
