Job Description


The Community Health Worker will work under the supervision of the Public Health Director and with medical students and social work and public health interns to evolve and support the clinic\'s psychosis awareness campaign, Clear Answers to Louisiana Mental Health (CALM). The Community Health Worker will create and maintain relationships with other service providers, and give networking & educational presentations about mental health, psychosis, and early intervention. The Community Health Worker will work directly with EPIC clinic management to evolve the psychosis awareness campaign to promote and support clinical services.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of first-episode psychosis.
  • Excellent administrative, communication, and social media skills.
  • Ability to work with community members from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Familiar with operation of electronic office machines (phones, copier, fax).
  • Proficient computer knowledge required, working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to present in public speaking environments.
  • Ability to form a strong commitment to the New Orleans community and its members.
Required Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years plus experience working in a community mental health setting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with adolescents and young adults.
  • Experience with community mental health.
  • Experience with media relations.
