Several full-time positions available with the Neighborhood & Community Services Department, Neighborhood Preservation Division located at 414 E. 12th St.
Salary Range: $22.61-$34.48/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• The Neighborhood Services Department is seeking several community-minded individuals to join our team.
• The selected applicants will be tasked with addressing the needs of the neighborhoods within the City of Kansas City.
• Inspect properties to determine if there are violations of the city\xe2\x80\x99s code of ordinances.
• Research and investigate property ownership.
• Meet with property owners and concerned citizens to discuss resources. Inform and assist residents about the City charter, ordinances, and resolutions.
• Utilize inspection and investigative findings to take legal action in coordination with the City attorney when warranted.
• Testify in Housing court on behalf of the city.

Qualifications

REQUIRES an Associate\'s degree in social work, urban planning, community development, business/public administration, construction management, criminal justice, environmental science or a related field; OR High school graduation and 2 years experience in planning/zoning, nuisance housing, building construction or inspection, health and safety inspection, neighborhood/community assistance or code enforcement; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Must possess a valid State-issued driver\'s license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must possess or be eligible to obtain required police commission from the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri\'s city limits within nine months.
