Job Summary:
As a Survey Crew LEVEL 3, you will work under the guidance of experienced surveyors and construction professionals to learn and develop the necessary skills for conducting accurate and precise surveys on construction sites. Your primary responsibility will be to assist/process the layout in all site work taking place and to survey existing conditions of the sites in progress. This role involves fieldwork requiring attention to detail, technical proficiency, and the ability to work collaboratively with the surveying team.
Key Responsibilities:
Survey Crews Level 3 at Wilson & Associates have a wide range of responsibilities. These responsibilities are under the direct supervision of an Area Survey Manager. It is the duty of the supervisor to train and coach each Senior survey Crew to achieve competence in the position. Survey Crew Level 3's are expected to coach and train Survey Crew Level 2 and 1 positions when working together. Survey Crew Level 3 differ from Survey Crew Level 2 in that level 3's are expected to have a higher technical knowledge allowing them to make informed decisions, generate layout data using provided survey software, and error/blunder check office calculations prior or during layout.
The main purpose is to perform field geomatics operations necessary for the completion of civil works projects. These tasks are largely divided into two categories: Layout and Data Collection. Layout involves placing construction location information from the issued plans on the ground. Data collection involves taking/storing direct or indirect measurements from existing field conditions. Both categories involve the use of Trimble Robotic (with and without scanning capability) and GPS survey grade equipment. These duties include but are not limited to:
Construction Staking - Stakeout tasks using points, lines, surfaces, and alignment-based files
o Layout calculations utilizing Trimble Access survey software
o Data transfer to office personnel
o Data import from office personnel
o Read and understand construction plans
o Verify layout data supplied by office personnel
o Industrial and commercial building layout
Topographic Surveys - Gathering of data for use in office calculations
o Gathering original and final ground elevations for quantity calculations
o Gathering tie-in information at the limits of projects
Use of existing Standards of Practice
Communicate scheduling issues with supervisor
Process troubleshooting and problem solving
Equipment maintenance
Vehicle maintenance
Communication with supervisor/manager
Error and blunder avoidance
Project diary entries
Standards of practice creation and updates
Assist team members with issues or questions
Communicate with product vendors for customer service
Client communication as requested by supervisor

Pay: $24.04 - $38.46 per hour
