(Focus on 500kW-25MW solar energy projects)

Overview


We're seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Project Manager to lead the planning and execution phases of complex renewable energy construction projects. This role oversees activities from early design through post-contract development, managing schedules, subcontractors, budgets, materials procurement, and field execution. The ideal candidate is highly organized, effective in cross-functional leadership, and able to manage multiple large-scale commercial projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and oversee detailed project schedules using critical path methodology, coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout activities. Lead subcontractor and supplier engagement, including scope definition, performance evaluation, qualification, contract administration, and change management. Proactively mitigate downtime and drive schedule efficiency based on project requirements. Ensure contractual obligations with clients and vendors are met; prepare and review change orders and payment applications. Participate in budget development and design input to optimize constructability, profitability, and resource availability. Coordinate logistics and delivery of materials/equipment with internal procurement teams and third-party vendors. Support efforts related to permitting, licensing, and inspections. Conduct periodic field visits to monitor progress and align workforce, installation quality, and resource planning. Maintain and generate internal project reports within management systems. Lead and mentor commercial project management staff; assign projects based on workload and capability. Collaborate with sales and commercial teams to address scheduling, client requirements, and variations in scope. Assist in interviewing and hiring project support personnel in conjunction with senior leadership. Act as a secondary point of contact for senior operational leadership when needed.



Qualifications

Minimum 5 years managing commercial-scale renewable energy or solar construction projects. Direct experience managing multiple subcontractors. Knowledge of installation processes for photovoltaic systems, inverters, battery storage, and permitting standards. Familiarity with electrical codes and commercial building regulations. Proven leadership experience with cross-functional project teams. OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 and relevant project management certification preferred or required within designated timeframe. Proficiency with project management and reporting software; CRM and ERP familiarity preferred. Strong communication, scheduling, budgeting, and problem-solving skills. Able to work independently and drive project teams forward while maintaining a high level of detail and accuracy. Willingness to travel to project sites, including out-of-state work.



Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Office-based work with prolonged computer use. Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs. Site visits in commercial construction environments.



Compensation & Schedule

Full-time, exempt position. Base salary typically ranges from

$120,000 to $160,000

, dependent on experience and qualifications, plus performance-based incentives or profit-share eligibility. Primarily Monday-Friday schedule; requires flexibility to support urgent project needs outside of standard business hours. Hybrid office/work-from-home flexibility may be available following a successful onboarding period, subject to business need and employee performance.
