CBW serves the DC Metro area and parts of West Virginia and Delaware, with offices located in VA and MD. Our primary focus is commercial and industrial customers in the region, with a specialty in property management companies. Capitol Boiler Works, Inc. is a privately held company serving the region since 1936.

CBW is currently seeking the right individual to fill a full-time opening for Commercial Plumber.

Salary Range: Starting at $32 per hour.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include any/all of the following:
  • Assumes responsibility for effectively completing plumbing functions.
  • Assemble pip sections, tubing or fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, soldering, brazing, or welding equipment.
  • Studies building plans and working drawings to determine tools required and sequences of installations.
  • Assembles and installs metal and nonmetal valves, pipe fittings, and pipes using hand tools and power tools.
  • Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners.
  • Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains.
  • Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observed pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
  • Responds to requests for miscellaneous plumbing services.
  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining related records.
  • Assists area staff as needed.
  • Ensures that management is appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Ensures regulatory requirements and established procedures are met.
  • Follows safety requirements.
  • Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Attends and participates in meetings as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school education/G.E.D., with one to two years of related experience.
  • Journeyman License.
  • Knowledge of heating, water, and draining system pipes, fittings, and fixtures.
  • Knowledge of building blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percentages.
  • Ability to draw and interpret graphs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Ability to write legibly for form completion.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards/requirements.
  • Ability to meet and maintain all qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain reasonably regular and punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards/requirements.
  • Compliance with all personnel policies and practices.
  • Ability to comprehend and carry out safety sensitive duties according to company policies, procedures and safe work practices.
