The Commercial Loan Officer is responsible for soliciting, negotiating, underwriting and coordinating the closing of equipment, SBA, commercial real estate, and business loans in compliance with the credit union\xe2\x80\x99s lending policies and procedures; develops business checking and deposit relationships with members; and promotes business for the credit union by maintaining good member services/relations. The Commercial Loan Officer is also responsible for managing existing relationships and ongoing monitoring and compliance requirements related to the portfolio.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Prospecting and originating new Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Commercial & Industrial loans (C&I) of with a focus on targeting small to middle market companies.

  • Manage relationships within an assigned portfolio and develop new revenue/fee income for the credit union through the development of new commercial relationships, negotiating and closing new lines of commercial credit and loans, and generating new deposits.

  • Establish referral network and relationships with commercial real estate brokers, loan brokers, CPAs as well participate in various civic and industry groups within the local community.

  • Expand and retain relationships - Profile new and existing commercial clients to ensure cross-sell of deposits, credit, and other credit union consumer products.

  • Knowledge of commercial banking credit policies and procedures, credit/financial statement analysis, loan structuring, cash flow analysis. Working knowledge of credit products and processes.

  • Underwrite and structure credit transactions and obtain credit approval.

  • Monitors loan exception and delinquency reports and works with members and staff to cure exceptions.

  • Serve as a resource for other Commercial Lending Officer\'s to assist with underwriting and documentation for potential loans when needed.

  • Build and manage a loan portfolio in range of $15 - $35 million while meeting annual production goals in new loans based on experience.

  • Adhere to the culture of regulatory compliance established by the Business Solutions management team.

Requirements:

  • Some college or successful completion of Associates Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Management, or closely related field; OR successful completion of a relevant program from an accredited technical school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3+ years of direct Commercial Lending/Relationship Management/Business Development experience or related business lending experience.

  • Working knowledge of commercial banking credit policies and procedures, credit/financial statement analysis, loan structuring, cash flow analysis.


Preferred:

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Management.

  • Formal Credit Training.


Skills and/or Certifications/Licensing:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, as well as strong presentation skills.

  • Moderate skill set in Microsoft Office Applications.

  • Ability to perform intermediate level accounting and financial analysis under moderate supervision.
