The Commercial Lending Intern receives training and performs duties in several departments related to retail banking operations, lending support, collections, and credit review in order to gain the knowledge and experience required for promotion to a commercial loan officer under direction of experienced personnel. He or she observes experienced Bank personnel in order to acquire knowledge of the methods, procedures, and standards necessary for the performance of departmental duties in each line of business. The Commercial Lending Intern provides general bank information, cross-sells services, and helps other Bank personnel as necessary. He or she is responsible for business development and marketing of existing and prospective accounts.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or two years of banking experience
Active license number with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry or the ability to obtain such
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Able to use financial calculator and related computer applications and business machines
Able to travel and relocate within the state of Idaho and/or Utah
Responsibilities
Stays informed regarding changes in lending standards and related legal requirements
Trains with experienced staff in order to provide a variety of paying and receiving functions, including processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, account transfers, and cash advances
Balances each day's transactions and verifies cash totals
Monitors deposit amounts and examines documents for proper endorsement and negotiability
Presents and explains Bank services and products to customers and assists in meeting their financial needs
Opens and closes accounts by obtaining information from the customer and entering into the computer system
Works with retail branch mangement to ensure that operations are conducted in accordance with established Bank policies and with legal and regulatory requirements
Trains with experienced staff in order to provide a variety of branch lending support functions; verifies, compiles, and types information for loans; provides credit information or rating on request to customer involved in loan transactions upon approval of branch manager or loan officer; and makes copies of correspondence, taxes, financial statements, and other documents from loan file as requested and approved by branch personnel
Observes basic functions in the processing department, such as bookkeeping, wires, ACH, on-line banking, credit/debit cards, merchant services, cash management, credit analysis, credit review, and special assets
Answers telephone calls and assists customers with questions and concerns and directs calls to appropriate person/department as necessary
Reads policy manuals in order to gain an understanding of banking regulations and follows D.L. Evans Bank Policies and Procedures as well as Compliance Policies and Procedures
Cross sells Bank services
Completes required reports and records accurately and promptly
Keeps work area and equipment clean, secure, and well maintained
Establishes and maintains effective and professional business relations with customers and trade professionals
Maintains the professional reputation of D.L. Evans Bank
Helps other area personnel as required
Keeps management informed of area activities and any significant problems or concerns
Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required
Promotes D.L. Evans Bank at all times
Serves as a representative for D.L. Evans Bank in the community
