This dual-role position requires a motivated leader capable of managing the day-to-day operations of commercial construction sites while also contributing to the preconstruction and estimating processes. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of construction practices, cost estimating, and project planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Supervision:
Oversee and manage all phases of commercial construction projects from groundbreaking to closeout.
Coordinate and supervise on-site activities including subcontractors, field personnel, and vendors.
Enforce safety, quality control, and regulatory compliance in accordance with OSHA and company standards.
Maintain and update project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, architects, and inspectors to ensure job clarity and issue resolution.
Conduct daily site reports, document project progress, and manage field logistics.
Estimating & Preconstruction:
Assist in developing detailed project cost estimates based on plans, specs, site visits, and subcontractor input.
Conduct quantity take-offs and cost analysis for labor, materials, and equipment.
Solicit, evaluate, and manage subcontractor and supplier quotes for pricing accuracy and scope compliance.
Collaborate with the project team during preconstruction to develop budgets, value engineering options, and construction timelines.
Participate in bid meetings, site walks, and scope reviews.
Identify potential risks or constructability issues and provide recommendations during the bidding phase.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction with at least 2 years of involvement in estimating or preconstruction.
Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, scheduling, and cost estimation.
Proficiency in construction and estimating software (e.g., Procore, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, MS Project, Excel).
Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and specifications.
OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively in a preconstruction team environment.
Willingness to travel to project sites across Arkansas.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Primarily field-based with occasional office/preconstruction work.
Must be physically capable of navigating active construction sites.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
