We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Collision Estimator to join our automotive service team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of automotive repair processes, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional service. This role involves assessing vehicle damage, preparing accurate estimates, and coordinating repairs with technicians and customers to ensure satisfaction and efficient workflow. Experience in dealership settings, auto service management, or automotive diagnostics is highly valued.
Duties
Conduct thorough inspections of damaged vehicles to assess extent of repairs needed
Prepare detailed repair estimates using industry-standard estimating software
Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair procedures, costs, and timelines
Coordinate with technicians to ensure timely completion of repairs such as auto body work, transmissions, brake repair, suspension, tire service, and other mechanical repairs
Upsell additional services when appropriate to enhance vehicle performance and safety
Handle customer inquiries and provide excellent customer service throughout the repair process
Manage administrative tasks including service writing, cash handling, and maintaining accurate records
Assist in vehicle diagnostics and mechanical assessments when necessary
Collaborate with parts departments to order necessary components for repairs
Requirements
Proven experience in auto estimating or collision repair environments; dealership experience is a plus
Strong knowledge of automotive systems including transmissions, oil changes, air brakes, alignment, shocks & struts, diesel engine repair, and auto body repair
Familiarity with automotive diagnostics and automotive service management tools
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
Ability to upsell services effectively while maintaining integrity and professionalism
Experience in auto sales or automobile sales is advantageous
Basic cash handling skills and proficiency in service writing software
Automotive repair knowledge including tire service, suspension work, brake repair, and oil changes is desirable
Minimum 2 years experience
