PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To assist students to reach the levels of educational proficiency necessary to pursue and obtain a college certificate. To collaborate and communicate with WSU Tech's academic and advising staff. To provide direct support to potential adult education students interested in pursuing post-secondary education. To serve as an academic advisor to all adult education students pursuing post-secondary education. To help facilitate life skills workshops. To participate in student enrollment processes. To fulfill mission statement.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree and two years related to the coaching, counseling, academic advising, education, and/or teaching diverse populations.
Background in Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Math, GED testing and/or related field preferred.
Must possess advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Must pass a background check and drug screening.
Must possess a valid driver's license and able to drive to multiple campuses.
Strong communication skills are required.
Must be energetic team player who possess the desire to positively impact the community and create significant change in the lives of adult education students.
Must be willing to become Pearson VUE certified.

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide a safe and positive learning environment for all students served. Data entry to support grant requirements. Support Kansas Board of Regents approved academic implementation. Assist in preparing for NexStep events and/or programs and enrollment. To provide students with strong academic support and framework. within the designated campus to the benefit of NexStep Alliance and its students. Work with individuals who have educational barriers to employment and participate in the achievement of their goals. Demonstrate positive, appropriate work behaviors in order to serve as a positive role model. Display commitment and involvement towards Goodwill's mission.

JOB COMPETENCIES:
Teach math, reading, and other adult education subjects as needed to prepare learners to pass the GED/WorkKeys exams and be well prepared for the workplace and for post-secondary education. Provide students enrolled in post-secondary education with a framework to study independently. Willingness to be on-call for student, instructor, and/or program support team. Plan for and provide one-on-one and/or small group instruction based on student goals and assessment data. Assist with testing. Maintain accurate records. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage all co-teaching instruction implementation, student monitoring, and documentation.
Communicate and collaborate with WSU Tech staff to ensure students remain in good standing and complete college and high school diploma requirements in a timely manner.
Assist with AO-K (Accelerated Opportunity of Kansas), and KPC (Kansas Pathway to Career) documentation and tracking for all adult ed/ re-entry students.
Participate and assist in the facilitation of meetings pertaining to the needs of the Accelerated Opportunity and Kansas Pathway to Career programs.
Serve as an academic advisor to adult education/ re-entry students pursuing post-secondary education.
Collaborate and assist NexStep staff in efforts to support students interested in enrolling GED, ESL, re-entry, and post-secondary education.
Travel to multiple locations to collaborate, facilitate, and meet with staff and students.
Ensure CCRS (College and Career Readiness Standards) are integrated in all instruction.
Ability to effectively communicate and assist instructors, students, parents and applicants on the telephone and/or in person.
Uphold Kansas Board of Regents quality measures, policies, and compliance regulations.
Engage in ongoing professional development to deliver the tools and resources essential for students participating in the Accelerated Opportunity and Kansas Pathway to Career programs.
Help students develop work habits such as attendance, punctuality, attentiveness, cooperation, appropriateness of dress, behavior, and interpersonal interactions.
Provide the necessary forms, supportive services, and documentation in a timely manner.
Maintain all records and files as required.
Perform other assigned functions as deemed necessary by supervisor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create positive and open communication channels with WSU Tech instructors to assist navigation, attendance and grades of NexStep students enrolled in post-secondary classes.
Facilitate co-teaching instruction for all GED, ESL, and re-entry participants.
Help provide wrap-around services for participants.
Refer students to on and off campus services and resources as appropriate to aid in wrap- around services.
Create a conducive co-teaching instruction model for native English speakers and non-native English speakers that accommodate students' language arts and mathematical skills.
Obtain and upload necessary documents for record keeping purposes to ensure compliance with Kansas Board of Regents.
Proctor, score, and track exams and assessments as needed.
Substitute for WorkKeys Re-entry instructor as needed.
Adhere to Career Co-teaching requirements.
Accurately track and record all participant hours to ensure legislative compliance is met.
Accurately track and record all participant academic narratives to ensure compliance with Accelerated Opportunity and Kansas Pathway to Career legislation.
Participate in NexStep GED, ESL and re-entry orientation.
Interact appropriately with other employees and community professionals.
Ensure timely and accurate data reporting.
Adhere to all safety policies and report violations.
Adhere to all ethical standards and confidentiality.
Support the accessibility of our services and facilities free of architectural, attitudinal, environmental, financial, communication, transportation, employment and other barriers to person with disabilities and barriers to employment.
Be responsible for the confidential collection and documentation of student classroom accommodations and coordination of accommodation approvals for the campus.
