We are seeking a detail-oriented, persistent and customer-focused Collections Representative to join our financial services team. This role involves managing accounts receivable, engaging with clients to resolve outstanding balances, and ensuring the efficient collection of payments. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a solid understanding of financial concepts, and experience with collections. Duties
Contact clients via phone, email, or written correspondence to follow up on overdue accounts and facilitate payment arrangements
Review and analyze accounts receivable data to identify delinquent accounts and prioritize collection efforts
Negotiate payment plans or settlements with clients while maintaining professional phone etiquette and customer service standards
Reconcile accounts by verifying account balances, debits & credits, and ensuring accuracy within accounting software and financial systems
Excellent phone etiquette combined with effective customer service skills for engaging with customers professionally.
Ability to negotiate effectively while maintaining a respectful and professional demeanor
Strong math skills for accurate account analysis and reconciliation tasks
Experience with telemarketing or outbound calling is a plus but not required.
Ability to work independently with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
This position is integral to maintaining the organization's financial stability by ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances while providing excellent service to our clients.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience:
Previous experience in a collections, customer service, or accounts receivable role or prior experience in the rent-to-own or property management industry is a strong plus.
Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with professional phone etiquette and the ability to handle difficult conversations with empathy and patience.
Negotiation Skills:
Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution abilities to secure payments and reach mutually agreeable solutions.
Technical Proficiency:
Comfortable using collections software, CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
Detail-Oriented:
Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills for accurate record-keeping and managing a large portfolio of accounts.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is a plus.
