Job Overview
This position is responsible for accurate and timely coding of coding charges by abstracting information from the electronic medical record. This position is responsible for providing educational feedback to the providers from audited batches to ensure compliance with coding and billing requirements established by the payors. This position keeps Supervisor and Manager informed of daily progress and issues related to professional coding and issues with physicians. Responsible for obtaining information for billing staff to follow-up on outstanding claims or recording of charges.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required. Recent experience with medical coding required. Must have one or more of the following credentials: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Other AAPC or AHIMA credentials may be considered. Will consider CPC-A and RHIT certifications.
