Work Schedule: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM



Summary

:


Performs the functions relating to Medical Oncology and/or Radiation Oncology Coding for Cancer Care of Maine. The majority of this position is outpatient coding but includes inpatient charging and clinic wide problem solving and assists in various areas of the business department. Must be familiar and have the desire to understand pharmacy billing, E/M coding, behavior medicine, genetics, palliative care and pediatric oncology.


Responsibilities

:


Reviews ICD-9-CM diagnoses/procedures and CPT codes within 24 hours of visit. Charge for services within 48 hours of receipt of appropriate documentation. Verify missing fee tickets. Investigates billing concerns and, if indicated, issues the appropriate credit(s) and or updates the coding information and rebills the acct. Reconcile charges entered to charges posted. Verify coding revenue. Provides vacation coverage for other coder/billers. Verify billing edits. Assist in improving office workflow to ensure complete/timely/accurate coding & billing. Verify receipt of ABN's for all Medicare patients presenting for services that are non-covered by Medicare; routing ABN to Patient Accounts.
