McCracken County Fiscal Court is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Code Enforcement Officer.
SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for performing various technical duties in support of the County code enforcement program. Code Enforcement Officers monitor and enforce a variety of applicable ordinances, codes, and regulations related to land and property use, nuisance conditions, health and safety, and other matters of public concern and serve as a resource providing information on ordinances, codes, and regulations to property owners, residents, businesses, the general public, and other departments within the County.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Conducts field investigations and property inspections to uncover violations of nuisance, junk and debris, abandoned/inoperative vehicles, housing, and related ordinances.
Respond to public inquiries and nuisance abatement complaints and answer questions related to code enforcement activities by researching, interpreting, and explaining regulations.
Contact responsible persons, landlords or tenants and perform follow-up investigations to ensure that remedial action has been taken; develop and maintain accurate case files.
Issue notices, citations, fines, and related documentation for code violations.
Prepare evidence in support of enforcement actions; appear and present at Code Enforcement Board meetings as necessary.
Represents County effectively, courteously, and professionally with the public, staff, and other various agencies on code enforcement matters.
Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Proficient computer skills.
Basic principles and practices used in the enforcement of laws, ordinances, and codes.
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:
Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED.
Must possess a Commonwealth of Kentucky motor vehicle operator's license.
Must successfully pass a drug screen and employment background check.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in the office and field under varying weather conditions.

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
