Summary

The Punch Press Operator 2 uses a Punch Press to punch out parts from metal sheets that will later be bent, pressed, and welded.

Responsibilities:

Read and interpret prints Prepare proper tooling as required Load programs into CNC machine accurately to meet job specifications Edit program at the machine with supervision. Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operation data to ensure proper program performance Verify the accuracy of the parts Maintain machinery, work area, tooling and equipment in a clean and organized condition Sharpen, dress, and demagnetize punch tooling as needed Inspect, measure, or test completed parts to ensure conformance to specifications, using measuring and testing devices such as micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates and rulers Seek out solutions to correct any issues with completed parts Deburr parts as required Perform regular maintenance on punch machinery Run additional machinery such as a lathe, tool sharpener, parts tumbler, and surface grinder Label and stack parts Move material skids and parts pallets through the shop with a forklift Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and qualifications:

High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience required 13 years previous relevant experience preferred Forklift certified Ability to make decisions independently and multitask. Excellent attention to detail Commitment to safety and accuracy of work Good organization and planning skills Ability to read and understand blueprints. Ability to read a tape measure and calipers Good communication skills Computer and word processing skills including MS Office

Work Environment:

Work is performed under in a manufacturing environment. Exposure to dust, fumes, noise, vibration, heat and cold may occur. Position requires constant standing throughout the shift.
