Position Overview:
The
CMA III
provides basic care to patients and helps in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the RN/LPN in the clinic setting. The CMA as the ability to maintain regulatory requirements, nursing and office/ clinic policies, procedures, and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Escorts patients to examining rooms, takes detailed medical histories, and determines the reason for the visit.
Maintains established office/clinic policies and procedures, goals, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards, and protocols.
Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families per office/clinic standards.
Provides general aspects of care that meet psychosocial or physical needs or both simultaneously, within the nursing assistant's scope of practice.
Meets communication needs of patients.
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Finds and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family.
Demonstrates performance reflecting the initiative and responsibility expected of a nursing assistant.
Performs other duties as assigned, within the Medical Assistant's scope of practice.
Performs basic patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
Notify proper licensed personnel of any patient complaints.
Maintains knowledge of operation and maintenance of clinical equipment, drugs, and supplies.
Demonstrates ability to communicate to the RN or LPN any observed changes in patient status and responses. Maintains awareness of the needs of the pediatric, geriatric, and general patient population.
Response is proper to the patient in emergencies or physically distressful situations.
Must have strong oral communication skills (reading, writing, speaking and comprehension).
Qualifications:
Must be a graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program.
North Dakota (ND) registration as an MAIII through the ND Board of Nursing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification needed within six months of employment.
Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
This position requires a background and pre-employment drug screen as part of the hiring process.
