The Clubhouse Recreation Leader is a Part-Time Position. We offer competitive compensation, PTO and an employee discount for part-time employees.
Job Purpose:
The Clubhouse Recreation Leaders are responsible for the supervision and safety of all Clubhouse, School's Out Days, Holiday Break Camp program, Nature and Adventure programs, teens program participants and will be scheduled to assist with various evening/weekend programs as needed throughout the year. The staff member will team with the on-site supervisor to assist in monitoring, interacting, leading and developing a safe and fun environment for kids to enjoy their time out and away from school. They will provide aide to individual students and assist in all program aspects. Program staff will provide quality customer service to the families and community members of Oak Park.
Essential Functions:
Assist in maintaining paperwork, attendance records, routine safety checks, and general forms needed to operate the facility and program effectively
Participate in all monthly meetings and trainings as requested
Maintain a working knowledge of all general departmental specific safety rules; obey and enforce the regulations and procedures established by the Park District and program description
Assist with emergency procedures and building evacuation if necessary
Assist with the maintenance and documentation of daily communication and cooperation with parents
Mentor and role model professional conduct for participants and patrons
Assist in the planning and implementation of age appropriate activities promoting the social/emotional safety and development of all participants' ages 5-12 years old; post and turn in schedule as requested
Resolve conflicts and problems that may arise between children through redirection and logical consequences
Promote child growth and development through hands on activities, modeling, and constant adult-child interaction
Communicate regularly with parents, school administration, on site supervisor and Program Supervisors by email, phone, and in person
Assist with the inventory and adequate storage of program equipment and supplies
Assist in maintaining all program paperwork, files, and budget
Assist in securing general materials and program supplies
Assist in maintaining a clean and safe program environment
Knowledge, Skill and Work Experience
Required:
Demonstrate skills and competence necessary to contribute to participant's physical, personal, and emotional safety
Knowledgeable in customer relations and have an appreciation for the public's needs and best interest
Demonstrate leadership skills
Team oriented
Flexibility to assist with the physical set up and take down of recreation programs
Ability to multi-task, supervising several small groups simultaneously
Exhibit problem solving skills and good judgment
Must comply with Park District regulations and procedures
Background check
Certification in advanced Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 1 month of employment and keep certification current. The District provides this training
Recommended:
Experience working with youth in similar programming
Work Environment, Physical Demands and Considerations:
Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds
Ability to endure prolonged standing, sitting on the floor, kneeling at child's level, and hands on interaction with children during scheduled program hours
Assist in the set up and take down of program materials/equipment
In case of emergency be able to respond quickly and appropriately with child safety in mind
Activities are performed both indoors and outdoors. Environmental considerations can include but are not limited to extreme weather conditions and building construction such as noise.

Hours:
The Clubhouse:
Monday - Friday, covering shifts between 8am to 6pm. Varies based on location and registration.
School's Out Days
: Hours vary based on program length and registration

: Hours vary based on program length and registration
Additional Events as needed during evening & weekend hours
