The Clinician is responsible for the day-to-day clinical management of the house milieu in concert with the Program Director. The Clinician must maintain all clinical records of each resident; prepare, implement and monitor plans for the care and treatment of each resident; and develop and maintain a safe and healthy environment. Additionally, the Clinician shall see that the STTAR /Therapeutic Group Home operates therapeutically, effectively and efficiently. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week, salaried position that is exempt from compensation regulations as specified in section 31-76i of the Connecticut General Statutes. The Clinician must be willing to maintain flexible hours in order to be available to the program residents and their families in the evenings and weekends.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with initial and ongoing client stabilization and coordinate the multidisciplinary evaluation.
Supervise and document visitation, transition, linkage and discharge planning as well as other related duties.
Provide on-site clinical services including individual, family and group therapy, crisis intervention, case management, and aftercare follow-up.
Perform emergency assessments of youth as well as assessments needed for Area DCF Office discharge planning.
Provide in-home aftercare services at the location of the client's subsequent placement for a minimum of 30 days.
In collaboration with the Program Director, develop and implement a therapeutic milieu to include an organized approach to behavioral management and conflict resolution, a complement of individualized and group oriented therapeutic services and supports, as well as advise on consistent varied, and appealing recreational program from a clinical prospective.
Maintain all clinical records: Initial Treatment Plan, Master Treatment Plan, Psycho-Social Assessments, and Therapist Progress Notes for individual, group and family sessions, admitting note, discharge note and discharge summary.
Conduct a minimum of twice weekly individual, family, group counseling, and daily group activities.
Acts as liaison to all residents and services (i.e. family, schools, juvenile justice agencies, hospital).
Participate in the agency's on-call service.
Plan aftercare when residents leave.
Develop multi-level milieu: work with Program Director to design services and everyday routines for the residents from a clinical prospective.
Cooperate with any and all agency's program evaluation process, areas of need such as staff training, etc.
Attend weekly staff meetings and other pertinent meetings as designated by the Program Director.
Performs other duties at the request of the Program Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensed Master level Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist or counselor with experience working with behaviorally challenging adolescent girls, or currently pursuing licensure with anticipation of license eligibility within 12 months of hire. Familiar with Trauma Theory, Female Development, Female-responsive principles, and relational strength-based approaches to care. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The employee is required to be able to operate a personal computer with proficiency in the use of Microsoft 365, web-based platforms, and Adobe PDF. The Position must pass a national background check conducted by fingerprints, a state police background check, a CT DCF protective service background check, a motor vehicle check, and provide proof of physical and negative PPD results within the past 90 days before start date. If the applicant has resided in another state in the last 5 years background checks must be conducted and passed in those states as well.

The Clinician is supervised and accountable to the Program Director.
