Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, with occasional evening hours to accommodate participant availability. Saturdays: Hours may vary based on participant's needs.

$23.65 - $35.50

JOB SUMMARY




Under general supervision, responsible for the compilation and collection of data, recruitment of subjects, and general coordination of clinical studies.


Participate in the implementation of multiple NIH-funded clinical research studies that investigate how substance use affects people who have or are at risk for HIV in North Carolina. The study coordinator will work in a team which uses multimodal data collection, including clinical interviews, neuropsychological testing, blood draws and urine screens, MRI brain scans, and medical record abstractions. Responsibilities of the coordinator include: recruitment, enrollment, and tracking of participants; visit scheduling; data collection; data management and quality assurance; regulatory duties; supervision of auxiliary staff; and other relevant administrative tasks. The coordinator will be work closely with study investigators to track progress and implement protocols.


The position is located at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE




Bachelor's degree in a related field of study such as such as psychology, neuroscience, public health, or biology, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.


At least one years' experience in a medical and/or research setting.


Paramedical or other clinical experience.


Training/experience in phlebotomy.


Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION




Registered Record Administrator preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS




Performs data collection and testing procedures on participants under the direction of the principal investigator or her designee.


The coordinator is expected to complete tasks independently and to work closely as part of the research team.


Testing participants/data collection: involves administration of subjective, behavioral, and physiological tests in the lab and off-site locations. Requires direct contact with study participants.


Must administer tests correctly (after training), show sensitivity to subjects, and adhere to scheduling.


Must be available for some off hour and off-site appointments. Data entry, management, and summaries: involves use of software packages to enter, organize and analyze data.


Must be able to manipulate data in several software programs to prepare data for evaluation and further analysis by study investigators, as appropriate.


Subject recruitment and sustainment: includes placement of advertisements, coordination with clinics and community organizations, conducting short telephone screening interviews, scheduling appointments, and reminding subjects of upcoming participation.


Must be able to learn screening scripts and to interact with participants on the phone with professional demeanor.


Ability to organize and prioritize appointment schedule and notify participants and investigators of changes in a timely manner.


Study records: Maintains appropriate participant records as necessary. This includes recording participant study status and determining their continued eligibility in the study.


Background research and administrative support: includes library research, word processing, ordering of supplies, equipment maintenance, document photocopying, filing, database management, faxing and mailing.


Requires ability to conduct computerized literature searches using online databases and University library systems, ability to use standard office equipment, attention to detail, and good organizational skills.


The coordinator is expected to develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for study implementation.


Participation in the development of experimental designs and methods: involves interaction with study investigators regarding feasibility of study procedures.


Good interpersonal and observational skills are critical to contribute constructively to the larger research group.


Supervision of auxiliary staff: responsible for training and supervising part-time undergraduate student workers who assist with implementation of study protocols.


Strong organizational and interpersonal skills in working with auxiliary staff are critical.

Must possess thorough understanding of assessment procedures.

Understanding of medical and/or scientific terminology


Key skills: must be motivated, reliable, and mature, able to multi-task and learn new tasks quickly, and have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.


Most importantly, must be highly respectful of and feel comfortable working with diverse populations, including persons who use drugs, minoritized populations (gender/sexual, racial/ethnic), and persons with criminal histories.


Good conversational skills, comfort making phone calls, and willingness to outreach to the community are essential.
