JOB DESCRIPTION:
The University of Florida Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a motivated
Clinical Research Nurse
to join our team. Reporting to the Research Manager, you will support the department's research mission by executing all components of the CURE-HCV grant. You will collaborate with a dedicated interdisciplinary team on the CURE-HCV (Community-Based Uptake of Rapid Evaluation and HCV Treatment) initiative, a multi-site, community-driven program aimed at eliminating hepatitis C across North Central Florida's most vulnerable populations -- including those with limited healthcare access, substance use disorders, or unstable housing. Your work will focus on timely data collection, management, and assisting with analysis and manuscript preparation.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform same-day, point-of-care HCV and HIV testing in the UF Adult Emergency Department (20-25 patients weekly).
Provide education and counseling on HCV, HIV, treatment adherence, harm reduction, and follow-up care.
Initiate HCV treatment under physician oversight; coordinate ongoing therapy and linkage to Hepatology.
Partner with pharmacy to complete medication documentation and ensure timely patient access to HCV treatment.
Conduct directly observed therapy (DOT) or structured refill visits in collaboration with community health workers.
Recruit and consent eligible participants; document clinical activities, outcomes, and progress in electronic systems.
Maintain accurate study records to support data integrity, compliance, and audits.
Collaborate with social workers, case managers, and community partners to provide wraparound services (addiction, SUD, SMI, housing, insurance navigation).
Deliver culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care to diverse and marginalized populations.
Participate in outreach, training, program evaluation, and project reporting to strengthen overall impact.
Schedule:
The typical schedule of this position is Monday - Friday, 8a - 5p. There may be specific times when research duties require after-hours work. (i.e. administrative and clinical call during non-business hours handling all unscheduled emergencies and patient-related complaints).

EXPECTED SALARY:
Salary range is $80,000 - $85,000/yr and is commensurate with education and experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program and four years of professional nursing experience. Licensed as a registered nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes.
PREFERRED
Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant or ARNP with clinical experience
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with high-risk and underserved populations, including individuals with substance use disorder (SUD), serious mental illness (SMI), or housing instability.
Experience providing education, counseling, or case management in a community or public health setting.
Ability to perform a phlebotomy
Preferred familiarity with database construction, data collection and entry
Previous manuscript preparation experience preferred
Ability to plan, organize, coordinate work assignments
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication
Skill and knowledge with various computer programs
Ability to understand, interpret and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Ability to independently perform various administrative tasks
Ability to collect and organize data for scientific presentation and publication
Ability to meet deadlines
