Summary

About the Position:

This position is located within the Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Cambell, Tennessee. The incumbent will work as an independent professional under the administrative supervision of Behavioral Health carrying out independent duties in accordance with (IAW) generally accepted psychological theories, methods, techniques, and practices.

Duties
  • Screen and interview patients, and perform bio-psychological social evaluations, using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to psychological counseling.
  • Select, approve, and document treatment priorities through a treatment plan.
  • Conduct therapy, monitor, approve, and document all treatment planning as well as provide advice for case staffing using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices.
  • Perform special actions and a variety of program administrative duties.
  • Oversee and interpret appropriate tests, using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to clinical psychology.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate professional development activities.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying work schedules.
  • Pre-Appointment Physical may be required.
  • Required to provide proof of US citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • If selected, official college or university transcript must be submitted.
  • Must be a credential member of the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • License/Certification: Unrestricted license as a doctoral level Psychologist. Must have a valid state license.
  • This is an Inclement Weather Essential position: Incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • This position requires occasional TDY - 5%.

Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist:

Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. Note: You must upload a copy of your Transcripts.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: performing psychological evaluations, developing behavioral health treatment plans, and providing psychological counseling services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently from a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required. Note: You must attach a copy of your Licensure.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
