The Program Therapist is responsible for providing high quality patient care, displaying good skills in assessment, treatment planning, rapport building, facilitation of group therapy, individual therapy, and discharge planning. The Program Therapist is expected to function as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates Clinical Competence in the Following Areas:
Conducts individual, group, and family (as needed) therapy sessions.
Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of behavioral disorders.
Effectively engages patients in the therapeutic process.
Conducts psycho-educational group therapy, demonstrating theoretical knowledge of the subject matter and effective communication skills when presenting the material.
Demonstrates effective use of crisis intervention skills to de-escalate patients in distress.
Demonstrates good clinical interviewing, conceptualization, diagnostic, treatment goal setting, and report writing skills.
Maintains appropriate boundaries with patients.
Demonstrates cultural competency in the provision of treatment services to a culturally diverse patient population.
Demonstrate effective communication and team work skills.
Exhibits respectful behaviors towards patients, co-workers, and supervisors.
Completes individual and group progress notes, treatment plans, treatment plan reviews/recerts, and weekly progress notes, and discharge summaries in a timely fashion.
Accepts constructive criticism, and utilizes feedback and supervision to improve clinical and work performance.
Coordinates with supervisor to communicate and insure adherence to company policies and procedures, as well as ethical and other professional guidelines.
Professional Requirements
Adheres to dress code. Appearance is professional, neat, and clean.
Reports to work and to group sessions on time, as scheduled.
Provides sufficient notice to supervisor of all requests for time off.
Completes work or documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
Wears identification while on duty.
Attends weekly clinical team meetings and department trainings, as scheduled.
Complies with all organizational policies and professional guidelines regarding ethical and legal business practices.
Completes annual continuing education requirements for licensure.
Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
Actively seeks and participates in supervision opportunities to improve clinical skills and promote professional growth (e.g. consultation, personal therapy, coursework, workshops, and reading).
Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the program.
Regulatory Requirements:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, or licensed eligible (LMSW, LPC Intern) in the state of Texas.
Master's Degree in social work, counseling, or psychology from and accredited university.
One year experience working with adult psychiatric patients.
Language Sills:
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Skills:
Good overall clinical skills.
Ability to work productively and effectively.
Ability to function well as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to represent the program will in interactions both inside and outside the program.
