POSITION SUMMARY:
A registered professional nurse who under the general direction of the Department Director/Nurse Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the department. The role has four primary functions: 1) operational management of the patient care process; 2) team building; 3) clinical and customer service role modeling; and 4) administration management development/support.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Demonstrated understanding of unit operations and motivational techniques. Demonstrated ability to work independently in an interdisciplinary environment. Commitment to own career development. Demonstrated ability to function as a member of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal/behavioral skills. Customer service orientation, to include skills in problem solving.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Current RN license to practice professional nursing in the State of Vermont is required. Please refer to department-specific Pay for Performance Expectations.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of three or more years of progressive clinical experience. Some management/supervisory experience preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for direct supervision of staff members on the unit.
