QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a current LPN licensure/license eligible in the State of Idaho. Minimum of two years of experience in acute care and one year experience in an outpatient primary care setting preferred. Wound Care certification is required within 12 months of employment. LPV-IV Certification required within 12 months of hire. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required or must be obtained within 4 months of employment. ACLS certification encouraged.

ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains a positive peer relationship and performs as a team player.
  • Plans and prioritizes to maintain a time and attendance record which complies with Marimn Health policy.
  • Provides excellent internal and external customer service assistance, providing knowledgeable and appropriate information to customers.
  • Works independently in a very detail oriented manner and meets deadlines.

  • Employee utilizes breaks and meal periods to care for personal business outside of the work area.
  • Employee completes work assignments in a timely manner and appropriately exits the work area in a timely manner.
  • Employee appropriately utilizes Time and Attendance for clocking in and out and schedules absences in advance when possible.
  • Employee is available for scheduled work shifts regularly and communicates absence to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to apply nursing care principles, practices, and procedures required to assess needs of wide variety of medical, surgical, obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatric.
  • Has knowledge of the normal course of diseases, anticipated complications, and indicated therapeutic interventions.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their desired effects, side effects and complications of their use.
  • Knowledge of emergency services. Ability to apply basic emergency nursing principles, practices, and procedures, such as Basic Life Support measures.
  • Greets patients and directs them to exam rooms.
  • Obtains brief history/complaint; obtains vital signs and documents.
  • Provides direct nursing care to patients including medication and treatment ordered.
  • Determines the basic nature and urgency of the patient\'s condition.
  • Notifies appropriate health care staff of patient\'s condition or provides the necessary nursing service.
  • Provides safe and effective nursing care to patients to include: administering prescribed treatments and medications (except by intravenous push) based on knowledge of drugs and treatments and their effects.
  • Operates a variety of medical devices, such as EKG machine, autoclave, suction machine, etc.
  • Assists the medical providers with diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures. i.e. general exams, lesion removals, injections, casting, dressing changes, etc.
  • Documents in the patient\'s health record all pertinent facts, including update of medications on the medication flow sheet, chart and sign all treatments given.
  • Assists in evaluating results of patient care provided, making changes in approaches to care as necessary.
  • Acts as the patient advocate in dealing with various health care providers, including clinic personnel and non-clinic personnel, and advocates for the patient in both therapeutic and preventative areas.
  • Provides teaching and counseling services to patients and families.
  • Participates in Center committee meetings as assigned.
  • Participates in the development, revision, and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and submits required records and reports.
  • Participates in all mandatory in-service/certifications.
  • Provides case management to 2 assigned providers.
  • Observes and monitors intravenous infusions.
  • Hangs containers of medicated or un-medicated intravenous solutions (commercially prepared or premixed by pharmacy or RN.)
  • Adjust drip rates on intravenous infusions, flushes heparin saline locks, discontinues infusions and performs venipunctures to draw blood for laboratory testing.
  • May start IV\'s (The LPN may not hang titrated or continuously monitored medicated intravenous solutions or administer any medication by intravenous push.)
  • Assess and monitors wounds.
  • Clean and bandage wounds.
  • Work with care team to determine if antibiotics, surgery, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, or other treatments as needed.
  • May work in a specialty capacity to care for ostomies, diabetic foot care, and more.
  • Educates patients and caretakers on wound care, infection and injury prevention, and pressure ulcer care and prevention for those who are bedridden or have limited mobility.
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills, maintains good external and internal customer service.
  • Demonstrates leadership, initiative, flexibility, and positive attitude in all daily activities.
  • Adheres to safety and infection control policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
