Position Summary



The

Clinical Director

is responsible for overseeing the clinical operations, compliance, and quality of care across all Bluegrass Recovery service lines. This leadership role ensures that clinical services meet

Kentucky Medicaid

,

AODE

, and

CARF/ASAM

standards while maintaining fidelity to evidence-based treatment models. The Clinical Director provides direct supervision to licensed clinicians, case managers, and peer support staff, and ensures documentation, treatment planning, and billing practices align with state and federal guidelines.

This individual serves as the clinical leader of the organization, promoting excellence in care, guiding staff development, and maintaining a recovery-oriented environment for clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Oversight and Supervision



Provide

clinical supervision

to LPCA, CADC, CSW, and other behavioral health staff in accordance with Kentucky state licensing board requirements. Oversee the development, implementation, and review of individualized

treatment plans

,

discharge summaries

, and

clinical documentation

for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Monitor all clinical services (individual therapy, group therapy, IOP sessions, peer and community support) to ensure quality and effectiveness. Facilitate

weekly clinical team meetings

to review cases, ensure coordination of care, and maintain client safety and progress. Support evidence-based practices including

CBT

DBT

Motivational Interviewing

Trauma-Informed Care

Compliance and Quality Assurance



Ensure compliance with all

Kentucky AODE, BH

, and

Medicaid/ASAM Level 2.1

standards. Conduct

chart audits

for completeness, timeliness, and medical necessity of services. Develop and maintain

policies and procedures

for clinical operations in alignment with Bluegrass Recovery's mission and state requirements. Coordinate with the billing department to ensure documentation supports billable units and meets payer guidelines. Participate in internal and external audits, corrective action plans, and program evaluations.

Staff Leadership and Development



Provide orientation, training, and professional development opportunities for all clinical and support staff. Maintain a supportive environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and ethical practice. Assist with hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions for clinical staff when necessary. Foster a trauma-informed, culturally competent, and recovery-centered work culture.

Client Care and Program Development



Ensure continuity of care across all programs, including IOP, outpatient, sober living, and case management. Develop, update, and implement

group curricula

, psychoeducation modules, and evidence-based treatment protocols. Manage crisis intervention procedures and ensure staff are trained in emergency response and de-escalation. Collaborate with community partners, hospitals, and referral sources to maintain strong professional relationships. Evaluate program outcomes and identify opportunities for service expansion or improvement.

Administrative Responsibilities



Serve as the

primary clinical liaison

to state regulatory agencies, licensing bodies, and credentialing organizations. Maintain current knowledge of changes in

Medicaid regulations

ASAM criteria

, and

behavioral health best practices

. Assist executive leadership with policy development, grant applications, and strategic planning. Participate in leadership meetings to align clinical goals with the organization's operational and financial objectives.

Qualifications Education & Licensure



Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field (required). Active

independent Kentucky license

(LPCC, LCSW, LMFT, LCADC) in good standing. Minimum 1-5

years of supervisory experience

in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or a similar setting.

Comprehensive understanding of

. Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams (clinicians, case managers, peer support, CSAs). Strong organizational, documentation, and quality assurance skills. Ability to model professionalism, ethical behavior, and trauma-informed care. Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient in EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Environment
