Overview

MercyOne Central Iowa operates four not-for-profit Catholic medical centers in Des Moines West Des Moines Newton and Centerville and two specialty hospitals \xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x93 MercyOne Children\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s Hospital in Des Moines and MercyOne Rehabilitation Hospital in Clive (965 beds total) \xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x93 along with more than 20 additional facilities that house more than 50 primary care pediatric internal medicine and specialty clinics. Responsibilities

What You\'ll Do!
  • Effectively develops and nurtures rapport and therapeutic relationships with all clients, co-workers, families, internal and external customers. Relates in a non-judgmental, accepting, helpful, respectful manner. Serves as a primary support person to the residents and their children.
  • Assists in the admission process for all teen program clients utilizing a compassionate and empathic manner to ensure that they feel welcome, appreciated, and understood. Orients new residents to program guidelines and expectations. Facilitates resident discharges, including overseeing packing, cleaning and other clearance procedures. When the situation requires, packs and assists in the storing of client belongings. Notifies all appropriate parties of any changes in resident status (e.g., discharge, AWOL, reunification of children, etc.).
Qualifications

What we need from you!
  • A high school diploma or GED and one year full-time equivalent experience in human services related field required. (Sixty credit hours toward degree in social work or related human service field may be substituted for the one-year of required experience when at least 12 of the 60 hours are in the field of social work or a related human service field.)
  • AA or Bachelors degree in human services related field preferred.
  • Valid First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required within three months of hire.
