Flatbush Veterinary Clinic is seeking a compassionate, adaptable, and team-oriented

Veterinary Assistant / Client Service Representative

to join our dynamic practice. This hybrid role bridges client communication and hands-on patient care, ensuring both our clients and their pets receive the highest level of service and compassion.

What You'll Be Working OnClient & Patient Support



Provide a warm, professional welcome to clients and patients upon arrival. Manage patient registration, check-ins, and check-outs with accuracy and empathy. Schedule, confirm, and update appointments using

Clinic HQ

, and coordinate with the team to ensure a smooth daily flow for both wellness and surgery departments. Assist clients with general inquiries, including but not limited to billing inquiries, making and rescheduling appointments, medication pickup,s and general day-to-day questions. Maintain clear and compassionate communication with a focus on access to care.in person, by phone, and electronically, Uphold a professional, respectful, and inclusive environment for clients from all backgrounds.

Veterinary & Clinical Support



Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, procedures, and treatments with handling and medicating dogs and cats. Safely restrain animals using low-stress handling techniques within a high volume environment. (50+ animals a day.) Monitor patient vital signs during pre-operative, operative, and post-operative phases as directed and be comfortable alerting appropriate staff members to concerns. Work within a team to be responsible for patient surgical preparation and recovery, as well as cleaning, sterilizing, and restocking surgical instruments and supplies throughout the hospital. Follow strict infection control policies throughout the hospital as needs arise, as well as following SOPs for daily cleaning, operating and safety protocols throughout the clinic. Prepare and label medications, perform basic lab tests, and assist LVT's in maintaining accurate medical records. Be self motivated to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and preparedness throughout the hospital. Be open to learning new skills, building on old ones, and operating professionally within a teaching hospital.

Requirements & Qualifications



High school diploma or equivalent required 1+ years of experience in a veterinary clinic, shelter, or animal hospital (client service or assistant capacity) Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to stay calm and organized in a fast-paced environment Confidence handling cats and dogs safely Computer proficiency and ability to learn veterinary software (Clinic HQ experience a plus) Professional demeanor, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to ethical, inclusive care Spanish fluency is a plus.

Physical Requirements



Must be able to stand, sit, bend, or kneel for extended periods Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs with assistance

Schedule



4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (Monday-Thursday) Weekend availability may be required for special cases or events

Compensation & Benefits



Pay Rate:

$23.00 - $30.00 per hour (based on experience and skillset)
