The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is seeking a Cleaning & Maintenance Supervisor to ensure Heinz Hall\xe2\x80\x99s high standards of cleanliness and overall maintenance are obtained by the efficient management, supervision, training, recruitment, hiring and evaluation of the cleaning staff. This exempt position reports directly to the Heinz Hall Assistant General Manager and supervises full and part-time Heavy Duty Cleaners. This role also plans, schedules and inspects routine, seasonal and annual cleaning to ensure compliance with all aspects of the GBAC certification. Coordinates Heinz Hall cleaning & maintenance projects with 3rd Party Vendors, Engineers and Stagehands and supervises special projects related to cleaning, event setups and associated specialty services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage & supervise cleaning staff
• Establish and ensure adherence to GBAC certification cleaning standards and procedures
• Maintain GBAC Certification and file for annual renewals
• Scheduling and assigning specific duties/roles to cleaners
• Review and approve cleaner\xe2\x80\x99s payroll & PTO requests
• Create, assign, review and monitor daily task sheets to ensure completion and take action to correct safety and repair issues
• Research & purchase cleaning and maintenance equipment
• Inspect cleaning equipment on a regular basis, evaluating condition, initiating repair or replacement
• Manage budgets for all aspects of facility cleaning and cleaning related maintenance
• Manage outside vendor contracts related to building maintenance and cleaning, i.e. carpet cleaning, brass cleaning
• Purchase cleaning & maintenance supplies
• Ensure MSDS sheets are current for all products in use and instruct all cleaners in their use
• Comply Governmental regulations and OSHA
• Assist VP & General Manager with the negotiation of contracts with Cleaners Union
• Coordinate office relocations, moves, logistics and scheduling
• Provide in service training for cleaners per GBAC requirements

Required Experience and Abilities:

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or equivalent work experience
• Extensive knowledge of cleaning products and equipment
• Supervisory experience
• Knowledge of safety practices
• Good communication skills both verbal and in writing
• Good time management
• Work with limited supervision
• Computer and office equipment proficiency

Preferred Education & Experiences:

• At least 10 years of progressively responsible positions relating to the cleaning industry
• Knowledge of commercial floor care and floor care products
• Strong employee and internal & external customer focus
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work on ladders, lifts, scaffolds, etc.
• Ability to operate related equipment, i.e., floor machines, vacuums, snow brush, computer, copier, scanner
