Description:

The Tyler Morning Telegraph, a member of the M. Roberts Media family of East Texas newspaper, is seeking a Classified Obituary Clerk and Front Desk Receptionist.

In this position you will be responsible for ensuring obituary ads run accurately and on the correct dates in the Tyler Morning Telegraph and other M. Roberts Media newspapers. You will also be responsible for greeting visitors to the newspaper and answering the main switchboard.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interact with customers placing obituaries via telephone, internet, and in person
• Processing payments for ads
• Greet visitors to the newspaper and announce them when necessary.
• Help visitors with circulation related questions
• General duties such as mail distribution, FedEx shipping and daily deposits
• Process legal advertising when the Legal Clerk is out of the office
• Assess needs of clients through active listening; present plans to meet those needs
• Maintain a high level of professionalism with coworkers and customers
• Exhibit a positive attitude
• Contributes to the company by performing other assigned duties
• Work shift as scheduled, including some weekends and holidays.

Requirements:

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Excellent customer service skills
• Able to communicate clearly and professionally via email and phone
• Ability to read, write and talk clearly and concisely with customers, employees, supervisors, and managers when preparing ad layouts, contract lists, and other communications
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Prefer employment related positions: advertising, sales, customer service
• Strong knowledge of Google and Microsoft Suites, InDesign skills a plus
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent
