: The EMS Manager is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating of all operations and customer service needs for the EMS Department. The EMS Manager acts as a professional manager for Classic Air Medical and Intermountain Health, and is accountable for completion of all work assignments directed to his/her specific department activities. The EMS Manager shall work with the Executive Director concerning oversight of the operations and clinical care provided by the EMS department. The EMS Manager will ensure that service delivery consistently meets or exceeds standards of care. This role will also oversee the daily activities of the EMS department, establish organizational goals, and direct all assigned EMS personnel.

Job Essentials

  • Serves as the direct supervisor for Classic Air Medical EMS Managers assigned to their department and advocates for their success in the delivery of the Classic Air Medical mission.
  • Works collaboratively with the managers of other Classic Air Medical departments.
  • Coordinates and oversees all direct and indirect patient services provided by the EMS department.
  • Provides guidance and counseling to EMS staff to assist them in continually improving all aspects of operations and medical care services provided though Classic Air Medical.
  • Actively participates with the education department to assist in all areas of clinical and outreach education needs of the EMS department.
  • Responsible for the carrying-out of Classic Air Medical policies and compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations governing clinical services actions. Coordinates with all EMS field personnel to ensure appropriate delivery of EMS services and response time requirements.
  • Responsible for staff adherence to policies, procedures, and workplace practices of the clinical personnel assigned to their base.
  • Oversees the administration of the schedule and staffing of the EMS department to ensure 24/7 coverage.
  • Oversees and ensures that the ambulance fleet assigned to the department is managed and maintained according to established company standards.
  • Assists in yearly evaluations and performance reviews of department staff. Assures proper maintenance and completion of clinical records and patient electronic charts by staff in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and Classic Air Medical policy.
  • Serves as the administrator for the central supply group
  • In concert with other departments, is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, and training of qualified staff for the EMS department.
  • Fosters a positive, collaborative, and welcoming work environment aligned with Intermountain\'s core values.
  • Facilitates required staff meetings with department personnel.
  • Monitors department performance metrics and their achievement by staff in collaboration with other departments and Classic Air Medical administration. Responsible for the utilization, crew knowledge, and effectiveness of emergency radio systems and communications technology required for EMS crew use in the completion of 911 response and daily business needs.
  • Assists the Director of Safety with EMS department utilization of the Classic Air Medical safety management system and actively advocates for its use and familiarization.
  • Responsible for the department physical facilities and the maintenance, cleanliness, and organization associated with those facilities.
  • Assists in ensuring that company databases, document repositories, records, and other vital information systems are up to date and secure.
  • Investigate and resolve customer/field personnel complaints in accordance with Classic Air Medical policy.
  • Assists with the development, formulation, modification, and implementation of department policies, standards, regulations, and general operating guidelines and procedures associated with improvement of EMS delivery.
  • Prepares clear, concise and complete oral and written reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge of National EMS Scope of Practice, EMS education and training methods, EMS vehicles and medical equipment, team building, time management, and supervision.
Knowledge of emergency medical dispatching procedures and standards. * Ability to use, type and utilize office computers, data terminals and computer programs in providing patient services, preparing reports, record keeping, document preparation and other matters.
  • Ability to read and research papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and online resources.
  • Ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech.
  • Ability to do math in order to perform patient care, reports budgets and material duties.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to patient care.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast paced environment.
  • Exhibits professionalism, is ethical and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Well-organized, analytical and self-directed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to relate to and interact with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. $37.60 - $58.03
