Civil Estimator



Overview:



We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Civil Estimator to join our preconstruction team. This role will focus on supporting civil scopes including excavation, concrete, formwork, miscellaneous site work, wet work, cut, break, patch and asphalt replacement. The ideal candidate will bring deep civil construction knowledge and collaborate closely with project estimators, project executives, civil operations teams, and multiple operating groups to ensure accurate and competitive bids.



Key Responsibilities:



Lead civil estimating efforts for turnkey bids across Construction (LA and SD), Service, Special Projects, Commercial Solar, Transportation, Utility Solar and Battery Energy

Attend pre bid job walks when necessary

Collaborate with Procurement on buy-outs and Rentals on equipment strategy.

Support preconstruction planning and scope development for large pursuits (e.g., Commercial & Transportation).

Vet subcontractors for large-scale civil packages.

Acknowledge/Clarify PLA Agreements, IRA Requirements, and other regulatory frameworks.

Participate in bid wraps and handoffs.

Standardize Estimating Means and Methods for Civil construction for both pursuits and change orders.

Change order support for large contract changes.

Provide input on constructability, means and methods (e.g., trench consolidation, OH vs UG).

Work with Operations on actuals vs estimates, identifying conflicts and hindrances.

Contribute to plus/deltas for constructability and methods.



Qualifications:



5+ years of civil estimating experience in construction.

Familiarity with Caltrans, Green Book, and unit pricing methodologies.

Strong understanding of civil scopes and site logistics.

Proficiency in estimating software and Excel-based cost tracking tools.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Undergraduate or graduate degree in civil or construction-related technology, OR extensive and related work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge, skills and abilities described above

Strong understanding of civil equipment and operations.

5+ years relevant experience in Civil Engineering, Civil Construction Estimating, or Construction management function

Travel < 10% expected

Can provide guidance to less experienced engineers and/or those without previous estimating experience

Works collaboratively across departments and involves others in solving problems. Initiates meetings within own team, other disciplines, and internal customers to clarify and make decisions on scope and direction of civil works.

Supports project teams and departments in a positive and productive manner. Works well with others to accomplish common goals and objectives

Follows through on commitments made to internal and external customers and meets all required deadlines

Serves as project/discipline point of contact for external and internal customers

Able to manage multiple responsibilities with set expectations and meet deadlines

PAY TRANSPARENCY:



The starting salary for this opportunity range is listed. Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility based on company and individual performance, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards.
