RESPEC, an internationally recognized engineering consulting company, seeks a
Civil EIT
(Engineer in Training) to join our
Anchorage, AK
office.
The Civil EIT provides civil & geotechnical engineering support for engineering design activities for infrastructure projects throughout Alaska and the Lower 48. Projects include buildings, utilities, roads, airports, and marine structures. Under the supervision of a professional engineer, the Civil EIT leads geotechnical field explorations, performs geotechnical analyses/calculations, and prepares geotechnical reports to support the design team on a wide variety of projects. Work includes collaborating on a multi-discipline team of engineers and may also help with other disciplines such as civil, structural, and hydrology/hydraulics. This position will require some travel for field work to remote locations across Alaska.
Key Responsibilities:
Design using AutoCAD 3D
Prepare design calculations
Develop quantities and prepare engineers estimate
Evaluate design options
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, geological engineering, or a closely related field. Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
Good technical writing skills
The ability to plan and execute field explorations in remote locations across Alaska
Coursework in geotechnical engineering such as soil mechanics, rock mechanics, seismic engineering, foundation design, etc.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Possess a valid driver's license
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Ability/willingness to travel to remote locations in Alaska for field work
Ability to use hand tools in the field such as shovels, hand probes, rock hammers, picks, etc.
Ability to work safely and comfortably around heavy equipment in the field and be willing to follow all safety protocols
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in geotechnical engineering or a closely related discipline
1-2 years of work experience in geotechnical engineering including geotechnical field work, laboratory testing, creating borehole logs, slope stability analysis, and writing geotechnical reports
AutoCAD/Civil 3D experience
Experience in other related engineering disciplines such as environmental, civil, structural, hydrology/hydraulics, surveying, etc.
Engineering experience on Alaskan projects

Salary depends on experience and expertise. Compensation includes a comprehensive fringe-benefits package. RESPEC is a 100 percent employee-owned company and employees are eligible for participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) after a qualifying period.
