General Position Description

The

Family Home Aides

support the Family Home Lead Aide and the Director/Owner by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the

Family Home Aides

observes and documents children's interest and progress and relays that information back to parents and staff.

Family Home Aides are

responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of the Family Home Lead Aide and the Director/Owner.

This position reports to the Family Home Lead Aide and the Director/Owner.

Shift: 6:30am - 3:30am Shift: 7:30am - 4:30pm Shift: 8:00am-5:00pm Shift: 11:00am- 8:00pm

Part-time Shifts

(Monday-Friday):

Shift: 10:00am- 3:00pm*
Shift: 3:00pm- 8:00pm*

Key Responsibilities



Follow program policies. Assist in the implementation of curriculum, activities and encourage participation by children. Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials. Assist with the preparation, presentation and clean-up of projects/activities such as art projects, stories, songs, outdoor activities and bulletin boards. Monitor and make sure children are always safe. Model age-appropriate behavior in the classroom and outdoor activities. Must be able to get on and off the floor. Maintain frequent communication with parents through informal discussions and progress reports. Encourage self-help and good hygiene. Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to childcare facilities. Assist with the maintenance of a clean, healthy and safe environment that is flexible and supportive of the individual needs of children. Follow all facilities policies and state regulations. Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement. Work effectively as a team member. Perform other tasks assigned by Lead Aide or Director/Owner. Ability to be flexible. Attending program and staff meetings/training as required by Director/Owner. Complete a yearly minimum of 10 hours of STARS training (required).

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required



Entry level to 1+ years of professional childcare experience. Experience with children between the ages of newborn and twelve years old. Food Handlers Permit (Preferred upon hire) High energy & ability to work well with others. Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills. An understanding of child development. Excellent teamwork, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Educational Requirements



High School Diploma or GED Current High school student

(Grade check twice a month)

Significant college credit in early childhood education or related field of study. Early Childhood Education Initial Certification.

Physical Requirements



Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl. A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception. Be able to lift up to 25 - 50lbs.

Pay: $17.85 - $25.85 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week
