CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE

The purpose of the Child Support Case Manager is to manage child support cases in an assigned caseload.

JOB DUTIES

Manages child support cases in an assigned caseload. Includes enforcement actions such as income withholding notices, employment verifications, emancipation notices, and default notices. Updates SETS-Support Enforcement Tracking System with current information as received from the clients, employers, courts, and any other source including information regarding emancipation, employment, or address. Also includes locate activities such as postal verifications and monitoring SETS locate activities. Updates SETS running record with all actions taken on any case. Assists with the administrative determination of paternity and support; prepares and files motions and entries; issues service of process in accordance with Rules of Civil Procedure; schedules hearings within defined time frames; prepares certified mailings; completes necessary SETS screens and maintains the case file. 50 %

Schedules and coordinates genetic testing schedule, arranges testing locations, testing in jails, prisons, and out of state. Explains procedures, obtains waivers and forms, and submits to Central Paternity Registry. 20%

Prepares, sends, and monitors all forms for interstate cases both initiating and responding from Ohio in assigned caseload. Monitors through calls and correspondence to confirm the status of cases in other jurisdictions. Record in SETS as information is received. 10%

Conduct investigations and review requests for termination of child support orders in accordance with established law, regulation, and policy. Terminate orders as appropriate. 10%

Reviews and refers cases to legal for civil court action or for referral for felony indictment. Prepares case summaries and other related documents and correspondence for state hearings. Participates in administrative and court reviews as needed. 5%

Regularly review and develop a comprehensive knowledge of the federal, state and local laws and procedures for the child support program. Attends staff meetings, workshops, conferences, and training sessions including SETS training as needed. 5%

MAJOR WORKER CHARACTERISTICS

Knowledge of computer operations, office practices, and procedures, federal and state rules and laws, interviewing principles, and investigative practices.

Skill in typing and word processing, organization, written and oral communication.

Ability to perform a variety of interrelated and nonstandard procedural assignments, add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions, decimals, percentages, maintain accurate records, complete forms and correspondence, gather, collate and summarize documents.

MINIMUM CLASS QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT

High School Diploma or GED required, some experience preferred
