The Family YMCA is seeking a team - oriented and motivated professional to develop, organize and implement high quality YMCA School Age Childcare Programs. Under the supervision of the CEO, this position works independently and is expected to accomplish multiple tasks simultaneously.
Job Requirements:
A bachelor's degree with a minimum of 18 semester hours in elementary or secondary education or a field such as recreation, physical education, psychology (with emphasis in child/adolescent psychology), or special education, or one related to day camp or school age program operations.
OR A two year associate degree in child development technology or related field.
OR A Mississippi Department of Human Services Office for Children and Youth Director's Child Care Credential
Minimum age of 21.
Within 30 days of hire, completion of Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program-specific training.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Job Responsibilities:
Manages, directs and coordinates the school age child care programs for the Family YMCA Hattiesburg Branch. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities.
Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs part-time personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance, rewards and discipline. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
Address staff and participant issues in a timely manner.
Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
Provides for upkeep of assigned program areas and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
Maintains proper records/department files.
Organizes special events for parents. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities.
Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
Develop and monitor program budgets to meet fiscal objectives.
Coordinate use of branch and off-site facilities for program activities and events.
Assists in branch-wide community events.

33,300-38,000
