We are seeking a visionary and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Executive Leadership Team and guide the financial strategy that supports our long-term sustainability and growth.


The CFO will serve as a strategic and operational leader responsible for all financial functions of Helping Hand, ensuring alignment with our mission, vision, and values. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, the CFO partners closely with the Board of Directors and executive team to drive financial excellence, risk management, and organizational impact.


This role oversees financial planning, audit and compliance, investments, and data-informed decision-making while cultivating a "Best Place to Work" culture rooted in transparency, accountability, and collaboration.

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:



On-site position, full-time position (40-45 hours per week; flexible schedule). Regular attendance required at Board, committee, and community events. On-call availability to the President/CEO and Executive Team as needed. Salary range $150,000-$165,000/year (salaried/exempt). Salary based on skills and experience. Up to 15% annual bonus potential. 403b retirement plan with up to a 4% company match.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Strategic Financial Leadership

Partner with the CEO and executive team to shape financial strategy, long-term planning, and growth initiatives. Provide clear financial insights to support strategic decisions and organizational performance.
Budgeting, Reporting & Compliance

Lead the development and management of the annual operating budget. Oversee accounting, audit, and financial reporting functions ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and GAAP compliance. Present financial results and trends to the CEO, Board, and Finance Committee.
Financial Operations & Oversight

Maintain fiscal integrity through strong internal controls and risk management. Oversee agency billing, audits, grant reporting, and external filings (including Form 990). Directly supervise the Finance team, including the Controller and Billing Manager.
Human Capital, Risk & Relationship Management

Partner with HR on compensation, benefits, and workforce planning strategies. Manage banking, insurance, and investment relationships. Oversee risk management for assets, investments, and liabilities.
Fundraising & Financial Sustainability

Collaborate with the Advancement team to support fundraising and resource development. Ensure transparency in managing restricted funds, endowments, and investment portfolios. Support growth of reserves through strategic investment and stewardship.
Leadership & Culture

Model integrity, professionalism, and emotional intelligence. Foster communication, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Finance department and across the organization. Represent Helping Hand at Board meetings, community events, and donor engagements.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:



Education

Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field may be acceptable depending on other experience. CPA or CFA certification preferred.
Experience

Minimum 8 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including 5+ years at a senior management level. Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, or human services strongly preferred. Demonstrated success in developing financial strategy, budgeting, and multi-site operations. Proven record of managing audits, complex funding streams, and regulatory compliance. Proven ability to balance strategic foresight with hands-on management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:



The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to assist others, access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. The ability to observe details at a close range (within a few feet of the observer). Consistently position self to maintain files in cabinets or assist others. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in all situations. Shared, multi-task, multi-person business office setting.
